First my apologies for the network interruption yesterday. This was a problem at the data center end and was beyond our control. Unfortunately, our servers were affected.
The Problem.
A server - not Mabuhay's, but on the same network was constantly transmitting large amounts of packets on UDP Port 53 (DNS Port). This malicious act was an attempt to take down the entire network.
What was done?
In order to save the network from completely going down and saving days of building a new network and downtime, the data center was force to inturrupt the feed in order to conduct an investigation on who the culprit was.
Was the culprit found?
Yes, they (Data Center Engineers) figured out what server the feed was coming from and terminated services. Unfortunately it took more time than expected.
Can this happen again?
Can't lie about this, but maybe. Like stated above this incident was beyond our control. However, we (Mabuhay Hosting) are increasing our anti-virus and malware scans in order to ensure our servers stay clean and incompliance.
Once again, my sincere apologies and the data center expresses their apologies also.
Warmest Regards,
Ivan Rivera
